Cabbage Tree + Cone Planter and Wrought Iron Stand

Thick, sculptural branches rise to rounded crowns of large, deeply cut leaves, giving this Cabbage Tree a bold, architectural shape. It is an unexpected choice for an interior, and all the more striking for it.

In South Africa it is known as the kiepersol, from an old word for parasol, after the way each crown opens like an umbrella.

Raised in a cone planter on a wrought iron stand, it lifts its canopy well above the furniture around it. Give it a living room, entry or any space with high ceilings, where those broad crowns have room to spread.

It needs a bright, warm spot with direct sun.

Care: Moderate. Water sparingly and let the mix dry out well between waterings, as its roots don’t like to sit wet. It’s happiest in a bright, warm room.
