Queensland Bottle Tree Forest Duo + River Stone Planter

Two Queensland Bottle Trees, planted together in a single river stone. The taller tree is gently wired with copper, giving its trunk a soft, drifting movement beside the quieter, upright line of the smaller one. Together they read as one sculptural piece.

The bottle tree stores water in its swollen trunk to survive long dry seasons in inland Queensland. Aboriginal people tapped it for water, and in times of drought, farmers have cut its soft inner wood to feed stock.

The river stone has been worn smooth by water over a very long time, and each one is different, so vessel dimensions are given as a range.

Its natural materials suit a Japandi or warm minimal interior, alongside timber, linen and limewashed walls. Place it on the floor beside a reading chair or console, or on a low plinth for more presence in a larger room. It is happiest in bright light, indirect or direct.

Light & Care
Light: Bright indirect or direct
Care: Easy. Water deeply, then let the mix dry right through. The trunk stores water, so it forgives a missed week. Bottle trees can be partly deciduous, dropping some or all of their leaves in winter or after a dry spell; they return in spring. Check the copper wire each season, and let us know if it starts to press into the bark.
