Queensland Bottle Tree + Mid-Century Tulip Planter

A Queensland Bottle Tree with a beautifully swollen base, planted in a 1960s concrete planter with spiral fluting. An extra-large coral staging rock sits at its base to balance the sculptural roots.

Spiral fluting goes back to the twisted columns of classical architecture. Mid-century makers brought it down to the scale of a garden pot.

It works as an occasional piece or a statement, depending on where you place it. It does best close to a large window.

Light & Care

Light: Bright indirect or direct
Care: Easy. Water deeply, then let the mix dry right through. The trunk stores water, so it forgives a missed week. Bottle trees can be partly deciduous, dropping some or all of their leaves in winter or after a dry spell; they return in spring.
